Jung writes in The Psychology of the Transference, “The night sea journey is a kind of descensus ad inferos – a descent into Hades and a journey to the land of ghosts somewhere beyond this world, beyond consciousness, hence an immersion in the unconscious.” Typically, in night sea journeys the hero is swallowed by a whale or sea creature, but Jung’s description suggests a form of katabasis, the Greek word for “gradual descending,” used in the ancient world to describe a descent in search of understanding, often to the underworld for the purpose of renewal and rebirth.

This album is many things to me. It's a blatant and brutally honest vehicle for personal healing. I've been on a plunge through my personal underworld the last almost 5 years, I've been calling it my conscious depression, I went in surrendered and willing. My spiritual path has forced me to face and heal all the broken, bleeding, wounded, despicable aspects of my soul and to also resurrect the deep beauty and power that got lost to the shadow, as well, because it was far too grand for me to know how to own or embody within myself. This album is an ode to this process. Another step towards deeply reconciling with my soul. It has been powerful medicine for myself and pray it can be medicine for you as well.

You'll discover many of the songs are a cry for healing, reconciliation, and atonement with various archetypal aspects of my soul and in the case of "Atonement" - with the God & Goddess. These songs are very purposeful in their attempt to heal the divide within my relationship with them through the power of creative expression. In those songs, I would ask their archetypal energy to write through me. It was a very healing process, as well as sobering.

The other reason this project is so dear to me is cause it was encouraged by dreams! Not only that but 8 out of the 10 tracks were directly given to me by dreams, whether told the concept of the song or at times also given the chord progressions for the music! I've been an avid dreamer/lucid dreamer for the past 12 years and I've always wanted to do this with my dreams, but either never really asked or they were saving themselves to make this healing experience all the richer.
